Education

April 2007, I graduated from an 800 hour program at East West College of the Healing Arts in Portland, Oregon. East West is a COMTA acreditted school and prepares students for national certification. (For more information regarding 1.) COMTA, please see comta.org/ 2.) East West College of the Healing Arts, please see eastwestcollege.com 3.) National Certification, please see www.ncbtmb.org)

The core curriculum provided at East West College includes studies in kinesiology, pathology, anatomy and physiology. Additional training is provided for the Traditional Swedish Massage and various modalities. Of course, teachers with such diverse backgrounds bring an array of knowledge and experience to the table. To say the opportunity to learn abounds is an understatement. One of my favorite extras was learning PNF (or proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation). As a result of applying a combination of active stretching and strength testing, a client can break out of repetitive pain patterns. Additional elective courses in myofascial release with craniosacral therapy, trigger point therapy, and Thai massage have influenced my technique. The emphasis on stretching in Thai massage, partnered with reciprocol inhinbition, myofascial release, and trigger point therapy has helped me serve clients best.

Your body was uniquely and intricately designed with an immune system to resist disease and repair injuries. My goal is to provide each client with a practical service capable of enhancing his or her health.
